We are having such an early spring here in PA. The crocuses and daffodils are already blooming profusely. We actually never had a real winter, which is fine by me. Snow is pretty to look at, but, except for not having any snow pictures this year, I didn’t miss it.
My card today uses the pre-colored crocuses from the Spring Flowers digi set from Fred She Said. I actually printed them out twice and fussy cut the three flowers and mounted them with foam tape for added dimension.
The design inspiration came from Verve Sketch # 1 for March. I LOVE their sketch challenges and really need to play along more often.
The papers are some long retired papers from Close to my Heart. I love the color purple but I don’t have much purple DP my stash. I guess purple isn’t the “in” color.
The Hand stitching was done with matching Embroidery Floss.
Here is another of my creations using a Fred Shew Said Pre-colored Digi Image. The inspiration for this card started with a sketch challenge over at My Time Made Easy. It fit perfectly with this fabulaous image. I chose not to include an Easter Sentiment on the front becasue I thought it woudl also make the curtest Baby Card. I like to keep my options open.
The image is calledEaster Chickyfrom Fred She Said and comes in a digi for you to color or the pre-colored images that come in 8 different colors. I printed the image and portions of the image three time. I then fussy cut and have layered three times with foam tape.
Yesterday was such a gorgeous day here in Eastern Pa. The temperature was in the 60's, the trees are budding and the robins have arrived a little early this year. It was so beautiful that I had the grandkids outside to play and I sat and hand stitched a card. It seems like it's been forever since I've been able to find time to do stitching. I've even got a few more in the makings.
Anyway, this card was inspired by a sketch over atMojo Mondays. They always have such fabulous sketches each week.
Then I decided to use the Pink pre-colored Lenten Roses (Hellebores), from Fred She Said for my focal point in the tag area. I printed it out twice and cut the second set of flowers out, turned them slightly and mounted them with foam tape onto the original.
All of the papers are from the"Lucy" collection from Close to my Heart. The Happy Easter is from the "Say it in Style" CTMH Clear stamp set.
I used a yellow copic marker to color a few pearls to bring out the yellow in the centers of the flowers along with some yellow bakers twine. The thing I love about the CTMH Bakers twine is that they were made to match the colors of their papers.
Here is the absolute greatest product. The bow on the card is hand dyed "Color Ready Seam Binding" from CTMH. This is the absolute best way to always have the exact color of ribbon for your projects. I just mixed a little re-inker with alcohol then ran the piece of seam binding through it. I scrunched it up and held the scrunched up ball between tweezers and heat dried with a heat tool. By drying it this way, you get varigated colors. If you want a solod color, just let it dry on it's own. It doesn't take long since you are using alcohol.
The Hand Stitching around the card was done with matching Embroidery Floss.
